In the Steam bestsellers there are mostly large blockbusters and real burners. But now a small pixel game is surprising where you slip into the role of an emerging sorcerer's apprentice. Little Witch in the Woods is strongly reminiscent of Stardew Valley and refines it with a pinch of Harry-Potter feeling.

In the past few weeks, the Steam Deck and Elden Ring dominated the bestsellers of the Steam platform. With the release, however, a new role -playing game in the pixel style was able to briefly push in second place: Little Witch in the Woods (source: Steam).

The visual style and the atmosphere are strongly reminiscent of the popular Stardew Valley. Instead of pursuing the activities of a farmer, you have to dive into the world of magic .

What can you expect in Little Witch in the Woods?

As a sorcerer's apprentice, you have to follow the story to complete your training in magic. While you practice your spells, you will meet many characters in the village with which you have to build relationships similar to Stardew Valley.

Explore the enchanted forests, meet creatures, find hidden secrets and collects materials to craft helpful potions .

Later, other everyday activities such as fishing should be added. The early access version currently includes about five hours in content and is to be published in full in 2023 .

The sweet indie game currently has over 1,200 reviews, which rate it 89 percent of the players as positive .

The simple crafting system and the rich story stand out positively for most. The optics and user interface are also praised. Many have already fallen in love with the personalities of the individual characters. With a few exceptions, it seems to be technically round.

A criticism of many players is the control , which cannot currently be changed. You control with the arrow keys, which is bothered by many.
